Learning Chemistry, Connecting Ecological Citizenship and Environmental Sustainability: “A Plate of Food” as a Learning Medium

Highlights Using a new concept of “a plate food” (aPoF), symbol meaningful chemical reaction products, this article addresses the Grade 10 students’ chemistry anxiety in Indonesia. In line with ecological citizenship and pro-environmental behavior perspectives, aPoF is conceptualized based on environmental concerns such as food sustainability, food-critical consciousness, earth's carrying capacity. This means that beneficial to support Sustainable Development Goals #2 Zero Hunger, #4 Quality Education, #12 Responsible Consumption Production. Based our results, we suggest teachers can give more space for students express their difficulties learning chemistry. The be delivered by giving assignments focusing feelings experiences related certain topic.
